
LISANNE SKYLER is an award-winning writer/director of social issue films. Portraying subjects ranging from domestic violence and systemic racism to Las Vegas and the contemporary art world, Skyler's films have been official selections of Sundance, New York Film Festival, AFI Fest, South x Southwest, and the Venice Film Festival, and have broadcast and/or streamed on HBO, PBS, Sundance Channel and international platforms worldwide. For her critically acclaimed feature film GETTING TO KNOW YOU, Skyler was nominated for an Independent Spirit "Someone to Watch Award." Skyler was Oscar Shortlisted for her HBO Documentary Film BRILLO BOX (3¢ Off), and received the Showtime Tony Cox Award for Screenwriting from the Nantucket Film Festival for her period drama CAPTURE THE FLAG. She is currently in post on BREAK for producer Sofia Sondervan, starring Gaite Jansen, and in production on the NEH-funded FLORENCE KNOLL: NOTHING LEFT TO CHANCE. Skyler teaches screenwriting and directing at the University of Arizona School of Theatre, Film & Television, where she serves as Director of Production and Director of Film & Television LA (FTV LA), in partnership with Film Independent.
